The PrintPV project is collaborating with INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and the Universidade do Minho outreach programs having ties to local high schools to expose students and teachers to cutting edge engineering technologies used to develop new solar cells and materials.
We are visiting elementary schools in the greater Braga area to give demonstration projects on the use and importance of solar cells for energy generation.
Specifically, we are using photovoltaic devices to show how sunlight can be generated for subsequent uses such as powering electrical items and in providing energy to a light bulb in the dark. We call this activity the “travelling solar cell show”.
The demonstration projects are designed by yang researchers and they are focusing on using novel small solar energy systems developed in the Project for lightening or powering applications.
The idea is to show the students that renewable energy can be produced, stored and used for later applications.
NOVEMBER, 22 2016 | Our team gave a talk on Nanotechnology at Gonçalo Nunes School, in Barcelos - Portugal. It is always great to talk to the future of Science and Nanotechnology.
"TRAVELLING SOLAR CELL SHOW" ON THE ROAD. June, 5 2017 | PrintPV Team visited Centro Escolar de Prado to perform our first outreach activity within PrintPV project. About 40 kids enjoyed a presentation about solar energy and played with toys powered by photovoltaic cells.
“TRAVELLING SOLAR CELL SHOW" ON THE ROAD #2. June, 12 2017 | At Colégio João Paulo II the PrintPV team explained how solar cells works to 20 kids. After, the kids were able to play with a piano, a fuel cell car, trains and a sewing machine powered by photovoltaic cells.
“TRAVELLING SOLAR CELL SHOW" ON THE ROAD #3. June, 14 2017 | PrintPV team went to Escola Básica de Fraião to show how photovoltaics works to 70 kids!!! All the kids were able to understand PV while playing with toys powered by photovoltaic cells.
“TRAVELLING SOLAR CELL SHOW" ON THE ROAD #4. June, 16 2017 | At Casa do Povo da Vila de Prado the PrintPV team explained to 20 kids how solar cells works. The kids loved to play with a piano, a fuel cell car, trains and a sewing machine powered by photovoltaic cells.
"TRAVELLING SOLAR CELL SHOW" ON THE ROAD #5. July, 11 2017 | PrintPV team went to Colégio Leonardo Da Vinci to perform the last summer outreach activity with 50 kids. After the presentation explaining how photovoltaics work all the kids enjoyed and interacted with the toys powered by photovoltaic panels. We will continue in October spreading knowledge and joy!!!
